Bush Shoe Site Sold on eBay

Looks like US President George Bush's shoe fiasco is doing good to many. Now, after many online games on the same incident have created a ripple, Briton Alex Tew who created sockandawe.com, sold the property on eBay in just four days, he told Reuters.

The game called 'Sock and Awe' allows users to try their hand at hitting Bush's head with a shoe started getting millions of hits, threatening to overload the servers for a new humor site Tew is building. Thus, they put it up on eBay. The homepage of the website says '47,149,778 shoes have been successfully hit President Bush in his face.
It also displays the list of 'Top 10 Bush-shoeing players' and 'Top 10 Bush-shoeing countries.' Ironically, US tops the list of Bush-shoeing countries while Pakistan comes 10th. The buyer was a British-based internet media company and the price the site fetched on the online auction site was 5,215 pounds ($7,818)

Software Goes Cheap

Wednesday, December 10, 2008: This may actually be the best time for you to go and do some IT shopping. Only yesterday, we covered a news story about IT hardware industry deciding to cut down prices of the hardware and to pass on the four per cent across-the-board excise duty cut to consumers. Now, the software industry seems to have taken a cue from it and is reportedly reducing the price of software as well. The affect has come in force with the reduction in tax rates, thus boosting the import of software.
According to sources, post 8 December 2008, the CVD (or countervailing duty is an additional customs duty equal to CENVAT) on shipments will be charged at the rate of 8.24 per cent, instead of 12.36 per cent. Orders placed before 8 December 2008 will be charged at the previous rate of 12.36 per cent. This means a saving of almost 4.12 per cent. While dealers and distributors are going to get direct benefit with the boost in sales as the overall price of a box -- hardware plus software -- will be coming down, the customers can also stop worrying and go ahead with their purchasing for X-Mas and New Year!

Outdoor Display of LG's Laptop

LG's display manufacturing and supplying unit has announced the development of a unique TFT-LCD that can illuminate the screen with sunlight when used outdoors, instead of the backlight unit present in the laptop.
The 14.1-inch laptop screen uses LG Display's Backlight Data Signal Switching Technology that enables the screen to work under direct sunlight. With a small switch on the notebook, a user can change the reflective mode of the screen from sunlight to transmissive mode for using it indoors, on-the-go.
With such a technology in place, LG's advanced display will kill two birds with one stone.
1---It gives the freedom to work under direct sunlight
2---As the screen uses sunlight for illumination, it extends battery life.
LG Display will showcase these 14.1-inch displays at the CES along with products using other display technologies like improved motion picture response time (MPRT), other eco-friendly displays, and more speeds.
